To make Matcha:
From what I have learned, Matcha is fairly straightforward to make. It is a powdery substance (in actuality it is the ground up green tea leaf) which you whisk together to make a frothy substance. There’s TONS of recipes that include Matcha powder (cupcakes, lattes, smoothies, pretty much anything coffee related. To make, follow the video or these instructions below.
- Heat water till near boiling; Simmering is ideal (around 205° F)
- Measure out (using a bamboo tea scoop, called a Cha-shaku)
- Be sure to use a decent ratio of powder to water (experiment!)
- Whisk using Bamboo Whisk (Cha-sen) in “W” or “M” motion
- Usually more powder and less water = more froth. Experiment!
- Usually more powder and less water = better froth.
